Want Bigger Adventures? Start Smaller.

One thing I’ve been noticing lately is that a lot of women think they’re “not adventurous.”
They’ll say they could never travel alone, walk into a fitness class by themselves, try rock climbing, or do anything that pushes them outside their comfort zone.
And honestly?
I don’t think that’s true.
I think we’ve convinced ourselves that every adventure has to start with some huge, life-changing leap when most of them actually start with something much smaller.
Confidence isn’t built on some crazy hilltop or mountain.
It’s built on the steps that get you there.
If the big adventure feels intimidating right now, don’t start there.
You owe yourself baby steps, but you have to start with one step. Start here.

Go somewhere by yourself.
A coffee shop. A bookstore. A farmers market. A museum.
It doesn’t have to be exciting. The goal is just getting comfortable enjoying your own company. You’d be surprised how quickly you realize nobody is paying neeaarly as much attention to you as you thought.
Keep one small promise to yourself.
Go for the walk. Stretch for ten minutes.
Read a chapter. Drink another glass of water.
Every time you follow through with a promise that you made to yourself, you’re quietly proving to yourself that you can trust YOU. And I promise you, that confidence adds up.

Try something you’ll probably be bad at.
I swear adults hate being beginners. We feel like bc we reach a certain age we’re supposed to automatically know everything?
We’ll avoid trying something completely because we don’t want to look awkward for an hour.
Like WHO CARES?!
Take the damn dance class. Join the beginner workout.
Pick up the paintbrush.
Who cares if you’re not good yet?
Everyone has to start somewhere.
Record yourself talking.
I know…it sounds random and awkward.
Do it anyway.
The more comfy you get with yourself, the less time you’ll spend picking yourself apart.
Do one thing that scares you just a little.
Notice I didn’t say terrifies you.
Just takes you a littleee out of your comfort zone.
Growth usually isn’t one giant leap. It’s a hundred tiny decisions that slowly make your world feel bigger. (Read Atomic Habits by James Clear)
That’s honestly what Adult Play Adventures has been teaching me.
People see the roller skating, the rock climbing, or whatever adventure comes next.
What they don’t see are all the little moments that happened before I ever got there. The moments where I had to stop talking myself out of going.

Looking back, those small decisions were just as important as the adventure itself.
So if you’re not ready for the mountain yet, don’t worry about the mountain.
Start with the coffee shop.
Start with the walk.
Start with the class you’ve been stalking online for months.
Because one day you’ll look back and realize those weren’t just little things you were doing to build confidence.
They were your first adventures all along.
