Why I Created Adult Play Adventures: Finding Confidence, Joy and Strength Beyond the Gym

Why I Created Adult Play Adventures

Some ideas live inside you for years before they finally take shape in the real world. Adult Play Adventures is one of those ideas for me. It feels like a brain love child. A culmination of different chapters of my life, each one teaching me something about growth, confidence, movement and what it truly means to challenge yourself.

Looking back now, I can see how every experience helped build the foundation for this moment.

Falling in Love with Movement Early

My relationship with movement started through ballet and dance. If I am being completely honest, I think my parents put me in dance to keep me from wrestling my older brother and playing football at recess. What began as a way to probably redirect my energy quickly became something I genuinely fell in love with.

Dance taught me discipline and patience. It showed me the value of practice, precision and pushing through discomfort until something that once felt impossible starts to feel natural. It planted an early understanding that growth rarely happens inside comfort zones.

In high school I ran track, but at some point I stopped taking it as seriously. Like many teenagers, I was still figuring out who I was and what truly mattered to me. Movement was always part of my life, but my passion for it would be reignited later in ways I could not have predicted.

College Confusion and Unexpected Direction

When I got to college, I thought I had my future planned. I wanted to become a teacher. That certainty did not last long. I changed my major multiple times on paper and even more times in my head. It was a season of questioning everything and trying to understand what path felt aligned with who I was becoming.

During this time I enrolled in a class called Drama and Play in the Human Experience. I assumed it would be an easy elective, but it ended up leaving a lasting impact. The course explored how humans learn, grow and connect through play, shared challenges and storytelling. It introduced the idea that curiosity and exploration are not childish traits. They are essential tools for development and transformation.

College also brought me into close friendships with Division 1 athletes and people who genuinely loved working out. Being surrounded by that environment reignited my own desire to move, train and challenge myself. A close friend eventually introduced me to bikini bodybuilding, something I knew nothing about at the time.

Preparing for competitions pushed me mentally and physically. It taught me discipline, resilience and the confidence that comes from committing to a bold goal. At the same time, it helped me realize that traditional gym culture and aesthetic driven fitness are not what inspire everyone to stay consistent.

Adventure, Independence and Self Trust

After college, movement became more than something personal. It became my career. For nearly a decade, I trained and coached mainly women from different backgrounds, helping them build strength and confidence in ways that often extended far beyond physical results. Supporting women through their growth became one of the most meaningful parts of my life.

At the same time, I experienced life in corporate environments. While I was grateful for the stability and opportunities, there was always a quiet pull toward creating something more aligned with who I truly was. I began to realize that traditional fitness spaces were not always enough to inspire long term change. That realization stayed with me and slowly started shaping a vision for something different.

Around the age of twenty four, I followed an instinct that felt both exciting and uncertain. I packed my car in Michigan and set out on what was supposed to be a fifteenish hour drive to Florida. Instead, the journey turned into nearly three weeks because I kept stopping to explore new places along the way.

Traveling alone changed me. It required me to trust my decisions, adapt to unfamiliar situations, and find confidence without the comfort of routine. Those experiences built resilience in a way that structured environments never could.

I have always been drawn to environments that challenge people to grow. Shows like Big Brother and Survivor have brought me happiness during good seasons and inspiration during more difficult ones. Watching individuals build community, face discomfort, and discover strengths they did not know they had feels like watching life on a smaller scale. There is something incredibly powerful about witnessing someone step outside their comfort zone and realize they are capable of more.

The Meaning Behind Adult Play Adventures

Adult Play Adventures exists because of all of these moments. It represents the belief that movement, confidence and self discovery can take many different forms. It is not about replacing the gym or dismissing traditional fitness. It is about expanding what is possible.

Not everyone feels motivated by structured workouts or typical fitness environments. Through adventure based activities, people can rediscover joy in movement, challenge themselves in new ways and build confidence through real world experiences. Sometimes finding just one activity that excites you is enough to create consistency, momentum, and long term growth.

My goal is to create a space where women feel encouraged to explore, reconnect with themselves, and support one another while stepping beyond their comfort zones. Adult Play Adventures is the natural evolution of everything that shaped me, from dance studios and college classrooms to bodybuilding stages and solo road trips.

It is a reminder that growth is rarely linear. Every twist, pause and bold decision has the potential to make us stronger and more self aware.

This is only the beginning.
